Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for New Forest East, Terry Scriven, is supporting the Food and More Project.
The project is an initiative being promoted by Ian Nelson of Sunnyfields Organic Farm, Totton.
Terry Scriven visited the farm recently to discuss project progress with Ian Nelson and local County Councillor, David Harrison.
Terry says “I was thrilled to learn about Ian’s plans.
The project is certainly gaining support and momentum. As an owner of a small holding myself, I’m particularly keen on the concept of producing food in a more sustainable way. Ian is a really enthusiastic character and I fully expect this project to make a real impact”.
Key objectives of Food & More are to improve our education and training so we are more aware of where food comes from and how it gets to our plate.
Promote a reduction in the travel time and the length of the food chain by increasing locally produced food outlets in a more sustainable manner with greater collaboration between organisations so waste is avoided and increased employment opportunities are provided.
This will automatically reduce our carbon footprint and create environmental, social and economic benefits, which are totally in line with Liberal Democrat values.
